Deep Purple

Deep Purple is a doujinshi created by Prin based on Slam Dunk. As you can see, it features Sendoh and Rukawa as it's main pairing. I simply love this manga because it's a SenRu. SD doujinshi's are hard to come by and well if there are any, the pairing would most likely fetaure the main protagonists in the story, mainly Sakuragi and Rukawa (-_-), so doujinshi's like this are treasures for SenRu fans like me.

The drawings in this manga are commendable too. The first time I saw snippets of this manga back when I was still watching SD, I thought it was done by Takehiko Inoue himself because the drawing style doesn't differ much.

Plot-wise, Deep Purple sticks pretty closely to the original SD and is not, like other doujins are, too far-off or fangirly-ish. Prin's characterization here of the two is good, so for me, the story can pretty much be woven into the story seamlessly.

Over-all, the manga's good. Worth your time, if you like BL and definitely a must for SenRu fans.

The manga has four scanlated volumes to date. Chapter 1 of Volume five has been released. Nakama did the first few volumes and then Harudaki continued the series. All in all the manga has six volumes.

botched up

was at quiapo a while ago, hunting for dvd's to satisfy my boredom. i bought GG2 to catch up, a dvd with 8 movies in it (6 of em i've seen in the cinemas but, oh well) and bleach (episodes 90-120. yes i know, i'm way behind here). afterwards, i still had some money left so i decided to hunt for some k-soaps (koreanovelas). i saw this dvd entitled 'piano' so that caught my attention because the lead actor looked hot, with him in the beach and all. i looked at the back to read what the soap was about but lo, i couldn't, for the life of my dog, understand what it was saying.

it went like this: "His father experienced a lot of tears; section of the sons and daughters of intelligence. Zhi thick breakdown deep intelligence and his son, the sons and daughters moving spirit situation do not love the piano, is a Youzuihuashe the third rate gangster who quietly launched. Commissioner billion (Cho hyun-play: an inflow of Hunhun, the small role of a society, and lived a vagabond life all day, although once-Qaeda leader arrested for violent and when the eldest child, was forced to end due to lack of Xinji Life on the run..."

that was all of it. how i knew it word per word? well i bought it. it was just 40 pesos so i bought it. i haven't watched it though cause i'm betting that the subtitles would be phrased like those above. or maybe not. i'm just gonna cross my fingers.

sad fact is, asian countries are still having a hard time learning english. pirated subtitled dvd's are a proof of it. i'm a bit glad though that where i came from, our english is not that bad. a bit of grammatical error here and there but as far as diction and spelling is concerned, we have no problems. guess i was lucky enough to be born in a place where most people are fluent in english.
